If a friend were almost always late, would you resent it or simply allow for it? Can you be counted on to be on time? Do you think it is important?
Hi there!
This is no longer an active blog. Sorry about that! I've moved my most intriguing questions and answers to my personal blog, shirleytwofeathers. There are some good links here, so feel free to explore, have a great day!

This is a sore spot for me....I had a friend that was always late and I resented it. I was sure that if I allowed for it then that would be the time she miraculously showed up on time and then I would be late!
In the deaf world they are always late and in fact they call it "deaf time" which means when I show up.
It is very important to me to be on time and it isn't really about time but about keeping my word.
Some people blow it off as no big deal but for me....it is about character.
Lateness doesn't push my buttons. I'm not usually late, but I can be late - and if I am it's almost always because I either didn't want to do whatever it was I was supposed to show up and do, OR I tried to do too many things at once and the time got away from me.
If I have a friend that's always late, I expect it, allow for it, and if they do show up on time and I'm late... well - oh well - stuff happens.
Now, if my pay check is late... that's a whole other story!
Do I think being on time is important? Sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn't. Depends on the circumstances.
I am usually punctual and if I am running late for some reason, I always attempt to call the person who is expecting me to let them know that I'm running late and when I will be there.
My mom was ALWAYS late!!! It was sort of a joke in our family. My sister and I always just allowed for it. If we wanted her to show up at 7 p.m., we told her to be there at 6 p.m., then she was never late. She never seemed to catch on to it, surprisingly!!! Of course, we never told her we were doing that, because if she knew, she would make adjustments herself and be even later!!!
So I guess since I grew up with it, and as a kid was late a lot to things because of my mom, that sort of made me more punctual. I got embarassed when we showed up late places!
I'm with Shirley, though, a lot of it depends on the circumstances. If I was depending on someone to get me to an important meeting and they were late, that would make me very angry unless they had a really good reason!
I am usually coming in time. I try never to be late and think that being late is the disrespect of other and consequently disrespect of oneslf.
