Hi there!

This is no longer an active blog. Sorry about that! I've moved my most intriguing questions and answers to my personal blog, shirleytwofeathers. There are some good links here, so feel free to explore, have a great day!

Good enough?

What if there is no need to change, no need to try to transform yourself into someone who is more compassionate, more present, more loving or wise? What if, who and how you are right now is good enough?

I would really like to be able to feel and to know - really know - that I am excellent and just fine how I am right now.

One of the demons that follows me through life is the "You don't measure up" demon. He is very unkind, but I have accomplished quite a lot by allowing him to drive me... notice the "he/him"... interesting...

I am reading an excellent book right now, it's called "On Being a Real Person" by Harry Emerson Fosdick. He talks about this... it's just great. I highly recommend it.

probably for the longest time, I fellt my own worth was how others judged me. I could almost read their minds I felt how dare I even be in their presence. It was not until major events happened in my life to realize how short life was and that really the only person that I needed to feel good about the reflection in the mirror was me. I think what will the world be like 50 years from now and because I might smell, look ugly, or wear the wrong colored shorts, those petty items won't make a difference. I hope that when I am about to go to the other side, hopefully afte a long and very fruitful 2nd half, I will be happy that I made an impact even in some little way that might make me smile before I face the final question we all have.

Wow, I guess if I stopped trying to be a better person, I would have all sorts of free time, and I wouldn't be guilting myself anymore, but this would also lead to stagnation, boredom, and decay. I believe in continuous self-improvement! I believe you can never be TOO nice, TOO kind, TOO compassionate...there is always another level to reach for. That's what develops your soul and raises humanity to a higher consciousness, which we desperately need today.
