This is no longer an active blog. Sorry about that! I've moved my most intriguing questions and answers to my personal blog, shirleytwofeathers. There are some good links here, so feel free to explore, have a great day!
Yes, this question makes me very nervous, and I think it's because I would like to say nice things about myself. But I don't want to "brag" or be "prideful" or "full of it"...
So, is there a way to say nice things about yourself that is a good way? Or is it not possible at all? Should we even be saying nice things about ourselves anyway?
Yes, this question makes me nervous, too. I wonder if this trait of not wanting to "brag" is one that is especially prominent in people without much money. My thinking is that we are unsure of ourselves and we are modest and unselfish. A lot of the people I know with plenty of money are pretty boastful and proud of themselves, and maybe that's not such a bad trait. I can't help but wonder if there is a connection.
But I do think we should say nice things about ourselves, even if it is just to ourselves. I know I'm not the only one with tapes in my head about how I'm stupid and worthless and I'll never get it together and that's not a good thing! We need to love ourselves, honor our strengths and give ourselves a break!!
"What would you like to say about yourself?" - this sounds like I've been called on the carpet in the principal's office and I'm having to defend my actions! No, I do not like this question at all! It sounds like I'm being set up to be judged for whatever comes out of my mouth.
