Big Spender

The most expensive thing you have ever bought... right then and there... with cash money... no payments, no credit cards, just cold hard cash! What was it?

I bought my first car with cash. $800 for a 1969 VW bug. That was back when I didn't believe in being in debt and didn't put any money in the bank either. I just cashed my paychecks, put the ones and the change in a big jar, put money for bills into their respective envelopes, and then whenever I came home from anywhere, I'd go through my purse, pockets, or billfold and pull out all the ones and all the change and drop it into the jar. When the bills were due, I'd take the envelope and the cash to the post office, send a postal money order... and if anything was left over... you guessed it... it went into the jar. Ah... those were simpler days.

$3,000 for a trip to an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica for my husband and me.
It was a month after my mom died, and I used part of the inheritance money to pay for it.
It was the most fabulous trip I have ever taken in my entire life and absolutely worth every penny!
Thanks mom!
