I painted the inside of a skylight at a hospital. A friend of mine did a piece of etched glass for it, it was in the ceiling of the hospital chapel. It was backlit, but the frosty glass and white light did not allow the detail of the art to show up. So, I was contracted to paint a gradient blue evenly from dark at the top to light at the bottom. It worked like a charm. It took me two and a half hours, and I got paid $500. I thought it was awesome because for at least two hours of my life, I made more than my divorce attorney! Probably a once in a life time thing......
Most of the things I do for money are either hard, or stressful or hard and stressful, or uncomfortable in some way.
But last week, I had a really pleasant experience of agreeing to tutor someone on the key elements of an ayurvedic diet. All that was required was to gather up some previously printed paperwork, show up, and discuss it. No stress, no printing, no agonizing, no physical exertion, no boredom, no advertising, no promoting, no nothing. Just show up and talk.
It was fun, it was easy, and I made $50 for 1 hour of passing the time talking with someone I like about something I know about. Will it ever happen again? probably not.. but then again, maybe something similar? and better? could come my way? I'm open!
